About Joy Swift
Joy Swift MBE invented the concept of interactive murder weekends 29 years ago. She took the concept to the States in 1983 and since then has performed worldwide, including – naturally! – Death on the Nile cruises. Much copied but never equalled, Joy’s Original Murder Weekends ( www.murder.co.uk) are staged throughout the year in the UK and have a dedicated and enthusiastic following.
Joy also has a history of finding new ways for people to enjoy her plots. She wrote her first TV murder plot in 1989 and published her first book – complete with interactive mystery - just four years ago. In 2007, a major newspaper ran a devious interactive murder game as a highly-successful competition for its readers. Joy also has plans for DVD and board game versions and has already written the screenplay treatment of one of her favourite plots.
Murder Mystery Investigations is the world’s first and only realistic online murder mystery game. Launched on 15th March 2010, it features Joy’s 105th plot. The second online plot is already in production and is scheduled for May this year. Joy intends to adapt many more of her intriguing whodunits for the web.
Joy runs Original Murder Weekends and Murder Mystery Investigations from her native Liverpool. She was awarded the MBE in the 2001 New Year’s Honours list for her services to British tourism.
